"Bird-brain Christians." Hey, don't insult crows!

There have been a number of interesting studies on the intelligence of various members of the crow family. In this latest study, 7 crows were given the opportunity of seizing some tasty morsels with a tool. The catch? The only way to get to the food was by using 3 different tools, in the correct sequence. They were not trained in the use of the tools prior to initiating the experiment. 5 of the seven crows were able to accomplish the feat, 4 of them on the first try!

Meanwhile some brain-damaged guy walks into a gym, shoots up the place killing 3 females, then turns the gun on himself. He said the following about god and the afterlife:

"Maybe soon, I will see God and Jesus. At least that is what I was told. Eternal life does NOT depend on works. If it did, we will all be in hell. Christ paid for EVERY sin, so how can I or you be judged BY GOD for a sin when the penalty was ALREADY paid."

I have to tell you, he has his dogma right, according to many Christians I've talked to in my life.

The fact that he was from Pennsylvania will go without further remark (SI).

I thought I had posted this video before, but apparently not. Watch a crow improvise his own tool to get to food. It's very short.

Next, we should campaign to change the word designating a group of crows, which right now is "murder."

The venereal term should be an Intellect of Crows. We should transfer the former term to:
A Murder of Christians.

Hmm. You think because I'm on vacation, in PA no less, that I'd miss that crack.

Coincidentally, I'm reading a book titled "A Murder of Crows".Must be God sending me a message, right Gideon?

A Murder of Christians

Has a certain ring to it, doesn't it?

I'm sure there must be fucked up crows too, but probably the rest of the crows take 'em out.

Just sayin'...

Yeah, nice trick. But can he load and fire a gun? Or thank Jesus? There's the difference.

Sorry, double posted there.

Ex has provided a treat for all of us. HERE is a link to a video of one of the birds using three different tools in order to gain the reward. Quite remarkable. Remember when you are watching that no one taught the bird what to do and that 4 of the 7 got it right on the first try!

Welcome back to your weekly dose of reality, Gideon. You know I think you really *need* us after a week of listening to Christian radio while on the road.

I've got some news for you. We aren't just "related" to apes. We *are* apes. Don't take my word on it, or Darwin or Dawkins. That one was figured out by the guy who did the original classifying of species - Linnaeus. A Christian.

Anyway, I take it we have very little disagreement anymore. I didn't bother to read your entire comment, but my eye *did* catch this part:

Gideon said: there COULD be A god... just not the God of the Bible, which, itself, is fiction

Thank Darwin, you've come to your senses, man!

That's odd. You usually don't see fruitcakes this time of year. The Christmas season keeps starting earlier and earlier.

Didn't you notice the cobwebs when you came in? As you can see, I haven't been doing much with the blog lately. You can find me other places though.

For instance, you should stop in at The Spankish Inblisterer's blog. This guy, The Highwayman just broke your record with 6 consecutive comments and 9 out 10! You might like the guy as he agrees with your points of view on many subjects and even has your sense of - dare I say - humor? With a name like his, he might even be in your line of work. And he can only post weekends also.

Ah, crows . . . working within the bounds of objective reality. Cleverer than theists, perhaps?

Certainly more curious :)
