Kind of cool...

It's vaguely ironic, isn't it, that something called "Dark Energy" is the driving force in the universe?

"The team's calculations instead solidify the conventional view that an enigmatic dark energy fills the cosmos and is responsible for the acceleration of the Universe. "Recent advances in data collection have brought us to the era of precision cosmology," says Zibin. "Void models are terrible at explaining the new data, but the standard dark energy model works very well."

My friend Paul said it best one night forty years ago when we were both stoned at a small party at my place. He went outside for a few minutes, came back in, looked me in the eye and said, quite soberly and seriously, 'Ric, there's nothing out there.'

Another friend, Leslie, intoned on Meeting Street in Providence at two a.m. that 'You can never kill time. The best you can hope for is to maim it a little.'

Thus were settled for all time the issues of space and time. I've not worn a wristwatch since.
