Proud to be an American?

That's nice. Wave that fucking flag. I don't want to impeach Bush and Cheney. That's way too good for them.

UPDATE: I have to add this my post.

If Bush looked in the mirror while standing in the Oval Office, he'd see the greatest outrage upon human dignity.

I couldn't quite tell, but when Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and that little press weasel made their pronouncements, did they ejaculate?

"It's very vague. What does that mean?"

This is the best thing that our Good Christian President, St. George W., can say about torture? Well, shit, Georgie, I thought your God, the source of all human morality, and his scriptures by which he teaches us right and wrong, had all the answers to questions like that?

God, this stuff is beyond disgusting.

We are a collective disgrace to the world. Who would have guessed? The land of free and home of the brave...

To truly be better than another, you have to act better. Its impossible to act as bad or worse than another and prove you're better.

Chilling clip. Thanks for posting.

Not that it really tells me, personally, anything I wasn't already pretty much aware of, but we all have to do our bits to spread the word.

Philly says the obvious, as my post is redundant to much of what has been said, Brendan.

I'm just posting out of utter frustration and the weak hope that someone besides you guys (who I know are well aware and share my view) stops by here, takes a look, and gives it a second thought.

I'm told that I'm not a "good American" due to my nay saying and disaproval of what's been going on for the past close to thirty years.

Maybe so...

To paraphrase Krist's Gunner Asche, I'll be a good American when there's a good America.

Every human has some reasons for being proud of their country. We Americans have a tendency to think we are the only ones who should be "truly" proud. But every country has reasons for being ashamed at the actions of their own people and we, far from an exception, have to realize that while we have done tremendous good in some areas, we've done horrendous harm in others. National pride should be a rather weak impulse in humans. Unfortunately this is not the case and is one of the underlying factors in every conflict.
