The "Surge" That Is Working

It's the Propaganda Surge!

For months we've been hearing that even if we are against the war we have to admit that the Surge has been working. Cenk Uygar of The Young Turks completely tears this to shreds.

Honestly, I wonder if it were not for the Internet and a handful of radio stations, if we would get a bit of truth delivered to us about anything.

Propaganda - It's not just Faux News.

The Youngs Turks can be heard on Air America radio, weekdays from 6 AM to 9 AM, Eastern Time. Pod Cast and replays at theyoungturks.com.

I was talking to some relatives the other day, and we started talking about the Internet. I have absolutely no idea how they lived without it. I was 14 when we bought our first family computer; 16 when dial-up was introduced to me. I really don't know what it's like to NOT have the Internet for news, philosophy, the sharing of ideas...

I'm just glad we have it, especially for the connectivity.

Kelly,
I guess someday your kids will wonder how you ever lived without "nanobots', fusion driven cars and holographic TV..lol...When I was 14 we had a black and white television with 7 channels , one phone in the house with 8 people...it was the stone age man!

I guess that fortunately there was not quite as great a misuse of the major networks as a propaganda mouthpiece of the government back when Silly and I were kids. There was no Faux News. The other majors were highly competitive and actually dug in and did hard news. The news departments were considered a vital arm of the 4th Estate and were not just for profit, as now.

So it's really a good thing we have the internet. However, the majority of people still get most of their news from television, and the further down the economic and educational ladder you go the more you find this. A LOT of people still firmly believe - "if its on TV, its true". Yikes. How far from the truth that statement really is.

I'm not sure I like the "connectivity" as much as you do Kelly... it ruins my hermit persona! (to some degree. I'm still mostly anonymous and can sit here alone).

This was great. I guess I have to check them now. That might as well have been me talking, only I would have cursed a lot more. Hey, I grew up around Philly, I can't fuckin' help it.

Philly, you have to listen to Cenk! He is great. Believe me, he wants desperately to curse! But I like the guy because he makes so much sense and is so articulate in how he expresses it. I would like to THINK he sounds like me, but I know better.
